Manual Therapy is part of physical treatment which primary used by physiotherapists to treat musculoskeletal pain and disorders, however Naturopathic Doctors in Canada are trained to use it as one of their tools to help their patients. It includes kneading and mobilization of muscles and joints.

Manual Therapy is a clinical approach utilizing specific hands-on techniques, including but not limited to manipulation and mobilization, used by the therapist to diagnose and treat soft tissues and joint structures for the purpose of decreasing pain, increasing range of motion (ROM), reducing or eliminating soft tissue inflammation, relaxation, improving contractile and non-contractile tissue repair, facilitating movement, and improving function.

One of the most important role of Manual Therapy is to help patients regain their range of motion after surgery or injury. During manual therapy the physician examine the area and move relevant muscles and bones to revive the range of motion.
