Cosmetic and Skin Juvenilizing

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) & Mesotherapy

What is PRP and how does it work?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an injection treatment that uses the components of a person’s own blood to achieve benefits such as stimulating hair growth. Platelets are very small cells in your blood that are involved in the clotting process. When PRP is injected into the damaged area it causes a mild inflammation response that triggers the healing cascade. As the platelets organize in the tissue they release a number of enzymes to promote healing and restoration of tissue. Thus, stimulating the new growth of hair.

What steps are taken to perform PRP?

A small quantity of blood is drawn from the patient into a syringe. The blood is spun in a special centrifuge machine to separate its components (Red Blood Cells, Platelet Rich Plasma, and Plasma). The platelet-rich plasma is separated from the rest of the blood and then activated with a small amount of calcium chloride to allow the release of growth factors from the platelets. This in turn, amplifies the healing process. The PRP is then injected directly into thinning areas of the scalp.

Are PRP injections uncomfortable?

There can be some minor discomfort with each injection however majority of people easily tolerate this without issues. I use a special delivery device (PRP GUN U225) with very small needle to inject superficially; it is the same size as an insulin needle. This device minimizes pain and discomfort.

How often do I need PRP treatment?

3 treatments every 3-4 weeks then 1-2 per year for touch-ups to maintain your results. Each appointment is about 1 hour in length. Results vary between individuals. Some people’s results exceed our expectations and some people respond slightly below expectations. There is no down time after each procedure.
